School Board

School Board Logo The Dell Rapids School Board is comprised of five members elected each year for overlapping terms. Each member serves a term for three years. As the governing body of the Dell Rapids School System, the primary role of the board is the legislation of school system policies that are executed by the superintendent and staff.

The school board meets on the second and fourth Monday's of the months of September through June as their regular meetings. Meeting times will be 7:00 PM for the first meeting of the month and 5:00 PM for the second meeting. Meetings are held in the Middle School/High School Distance Learning Room. Agendas are available in the central office on the afternoon of the Friday before the scheduled meeting.

If there is an agenda item of interest to you or if you wish to address an item not on the agenda, call the superintendent at 428-5473 by the Friday before the meeting. Speaking time may be limited to three minutes.

Alan Blankenfeld Alan has served on the school board since 2002, a total of 6 years. Alan and his wife Diane have lived in the district all their lives with their children Peter, Adam, and Carly – a 12th grader. Alan is a farmer and seed representative. He serves on the personnel & Negotiations committee and Transportation committee.

Steve Munk Steve has served on the school board since 1998, a total of 10 years. Steve and his wife Connie have lived in the district for 15 years with their children Preston, Jordan – an 11th grader, and Chad – a 9th grader. Steve is a Minnehaha County Extension Educator. He serves on the Strive High committee, the Long Range Planning committee, and the Wellness committee.

Brian Davis Brian has served on the school board since 2003, and has lived in the district since 1972. His wife Nancy and their children have lived in the district their entire lives. Brianna – 9th grade, Preston – 12th grade, Sheldon – class of 2003, Michael – class of 2000, and Jamie – class of 1997, now residing in Rochester, MN. Brian is a researcher at the USGS/EROS Center. He serves on the recognition and acredidation committees, and is the legislative liaison to the Associated School Boards of South Dakota.

Cindy Schuch Cindy started on the Board in July of 2007. Cindy and her husband David have lived in the district since 1993 with their children Alicia, Danielle – an 11th grader, and Jeffery – a 3rd grader. Cindy works for Avera-McKennan. She serves on the Prairie Lakes Coop committee, the Insurance committee, and the Wellness committee.

Troy Randall Troy was appointed to the school board in 2008 and has served one year. Troy and his wife Robin have lived in the district for nine years with their children Noah – a 1st grader, and Luke. Troy is a farmer. He serves on the Long Range Planning committee and the Personnel & Negotiations committee.
