School Board
The Dell Rapids School Board is comprised of five members elected each year for overlapping terms. Each member serves a term for three years. As the governing body of the Dell Rapids School System, the primary role of the board is the legislation of school system policies that are executed by the superintendent and staff!
The school board meets on the second Monday of every month. They also meet on the fourth Monday from September through November and January through June. All meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Middle School/High School Distance Learning Room. Agendas are available in the central office on the afternoon of the Friday before the scheduled meeting and online.
If there is an agenda item of interest to you or if you wish to address an item not on the agenda, call the superintendent at 428-5473 by the Friday before the meeting. Speaking time may be limited to three minutes.

Matt began his first term July 2010. Matt and his wife Sonya have two children Bergen - a 4th grader and Andrew - a 2nd grader. Matt is a dairy farmer and he and Sonya grew up in Dell Rapids. |
Alan has served on the school board since 2002, a total of 8 years. Alan and his wife Diane have lived in the district all their lives with their children Peter, Adam, and Carly. Alan is a farmer and seed representative. He serves on the Transportation Committee.
Brian has served on the school board since 2003, and has lived in the district since 1972. His wife Nancy and their children have lived in the district their entire lives. Brianna - 12th grade, Preston - class of 2009, Sheldon - class of 2003, Michael - class of 2000, and Jamie - class of 1997, now residing in Rochester, MN. Brian is a researcher at the USGS/EROS Center. He serves on the Facilities/Technology Planning Committee.
Cindy started on the Board in July of 2007. Cindy and her husband David have lived in the district since 1993 with their children Alicia, Danielle, and Jeffery - a 4th grader. Cindy works for Avera-McKennan. She serves on the Wellness/Insurance Committee and is the delegate to the Prairie Lakes Coop.
Troy was appointed to the school board in 2008. Troy and his wife Robin have lived in the district for nine years with their children Noah - a 3rd grader, and Luke - 1st grader. Troy is a farmer. He serves on the Facilities/Technology Planning Committee.
